If you enjoy a morning jog, then many of Osaka's parks are for you, with both Nagai Park and Osaka Castle Park offering suitable trails and pleasant scenery to enjoy along the way.

However, if you are in search of traditional Japanese gardens, then be sure to pay a visit to Tennoji Park, where the landscaped gardens include many of the oriental features that you would expect to see. Osaka's main parks and gardens are below.

The perfect place for a range of sports, Nagai Park contains its very own track stadium, together with a playing field, tennis courts, a large pool and jogging trails. Osaka's Nagai Park is also a great place to relax and enjoy the array of recreational activities around you.

Surrounding the city's famous castle, the popular Osaka Castle Park is always full of people and offers plenty of seating and tranquil spots. Also available is a large baseball field, numerous trails for those who enjoy a morning jog, and a host of seasonal interest. Particularly eye-catching are the springtime cherry and plum blossoms, while in the late autumn, look out for the chrysanthemum festival, a major event always attracting large crowds.

A well-used public area, which whilst small in size, is particularly important since it is the only space of its kind within Osaka's Ame-mura district. Regularly frequented by locals and businessmen in the area, Sankaku Park is often referred to as the 'Triangle', due to its shape, and is known for its street entertainers, large trees and outdoor events.

A particularly beautiful park in the Tennoji area of Osaka, Tennoji Park offers plenty of opportunities to sit, relax and enjoy the pleasant surroundings. With open expanses suitable for picnicking and a range of recreational activities, Tennoji Park is especially famous for its traditional Japanese gardens, which boasts stone lanterns, pagodas, ponds, clipped trees and stylish landscaping. The park is also home to the family-orientated Tennoji Zoo.

Osaka Parks and Gardens: Tempozan Park - 3-2 Chikko, Minato-ku, Osaka, 552-0021, Japan, JP
Tempozan Park stands at Osaka's Tempozan Harbour entrance and alongside the Ajigawa River. When the river was dredged more than 150 years ago, a major feat lasting around two years, much of the silt and sand was used to create a large hill, which quickly gained the name of the ' Tempozan Hill' or ' Mejirushiyama'. Today, the park is also known for being home to a statue of local harbour chief of construction, Nishimura Sutezo, which stands high and overlooks the harbour.

A vast parkland brimming with colourful flowers and greenery, Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park is a relatively recent additional to the city's parks and has quickly become a firm favourite, both with local residents and visitors. Dominated by an observation tower, Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park also contains swimming pools, cycling and jogging trails, and peaceful seating areas, although it is the flowers that have become the main attraction here.
